McKinley Group represents the blueprint to success for our community, clients,
and employees.
History:
The story behind the McKinley Group began with another story called "The
Lazy Leprechaun." The Lazy Leprechaun is a story about one leprechaun who doesn't
want to work like the rest of the leprechauns. He wants to relax under a tree
everyday daydreaming. He knows that making shoes and repairing houses is hard
work. But, because the leprechaun is so lazy, a human captures him, and that allows
the human to get three wishes. The first wish is to have the leprechaunąs pot
of gold. The leprechaun laughs because he doesn't have a pot of gold. The human
becomes very irritated by this and uses his second wish to make the leprechaun
to work for him for the rest of his life. This work goes on for years. Finally,
one day the human uses his final wish to take a bride. Until now the leprechaun
was tied to the man with a string, but on the night of his wedding he put the
leprechaun down and forgot to tie the string to an anchor. The leprechaun escaped
and ran back to his hometown where he became the best shoemaker in leprechaun
history. So,
what is the moral of the story? If you don't work hard for your own pot of gold,
then you will work hard for someone else's pot of gold. This story behind the
story created the motivation for an already inner entrepreneur drive inside Ryan
McKinley. The
company started informally during Ryan McKinley's spare time during his leadership
of a local Resort. The year was 2004 and it was the second year of a three year
development project that he imagined, developed, and implemented. Ryan's desire
to be more than a manager and inner drive to use his creative and analytical mind,
and management and physical skill emerged. He left his job and started J.R.
McKinley Associates, LLC a Real Estate Investment and Development Company.
Ryan
also worked on his Real Estate License and became a PA Licensed Salesperson in
October of 2004; he shortly joined Blue Marlin Real Estate
as an agent. During this time of representing clients and building his investment
portfolio, Ryan realized the need for an investment vehicle for entry level private
equity investors. Building wealth through real estate and businesses was only
available to the entrepreneurs and landlords. What if you werenąt an entrepreneur
or landlord and didnąt want the responsibilities or didnąt have the risk threshold?
Your only investment options were certificates of deposits, stocks, bonds, mutual
funds, or your house. In
2006, Ryan's plans started to become realized through his purchase of Blue Marlin
Real Estate, Inc. and the start up of J.R. McKinley
Construction, LLC. Blue Marlin was the fit he needed to build the real
estate brokerage division. Then the construction division was needed to become
competitive with other full time developers. Ryan's development and business experience
until now consisted of mostly senior management, business consulting, residential
flips, repositioning commercial flips, and residential rentals. Now it was time
to start his very first commercial development project. In
July of 2007 the White Rose Business Center project was settled. This was to be
an adaptive reuse project of an old building on the Square of the City of York.
Set to have a grand opening in the fall of 2008 with a total of 11 office condominiums
and 30,000 square feet of renovated Class A space. All the partners involved have
other full time jobs and have no plans on being a developer. Now they will realize
the benefits of investing in real estate and business without having to be an
entrepreneur or landlord. In
2008 and Ryan formed McKinley Group to operate
all three divisions. Currently the development, construction, and brokerage companies
will perform more in one month then what J.R. McKinley Associates, LLC did in
a year during the opening year of 2004. Today the Group will strive to outperform
other investment vehicles while backing the investments with real estate and business
assets. About
